Route 89C came into the PAT route
structure as a trial route to take residents from the Homewood and Homewood North
neighborhoods to Penn Mall in East Liberty. It is an example of PAT's rapid expansion of
services during the 1970's.

Route ran with window cards and destination signs.
Routing:
From Homewood North - Homewood Avenue at Upland via Upland, Brushton,
Frankstown Avenue, Broad Street, Penn Circle East, Penn Circle North, Highland Avenue and
Penn Circle South to Divider at Penn Mall.
From Penn Mall - Penn Mall to Penn Circle East, Broad Street,
Fransktown Avenue, Homewood Avenue to Upland.
Approximate one way trip time was 10 minutes.
Route Highlights:
Started: 01/17/73 as a trial service
Ended: 02/19/77 due to low ridership
The 89C ran only Monday through Saturday with no Sunday or holiday
service.

The 89C had 2 distinct schedule style from the East Liberty Division,
carrying folder number E-19 and both were schedule cards.

- E-19B - 11/24/74
- E-19C - ?
- E-19D - 03/01/76
There may have been a folder E-19E but we don't have that available to
know for sure at this time.
Route Disposition:
The 89C was discontinued on 02/19/77 due to low ridership. Limited
trips from the 88 Frankstown (86B) were scheduled to serve the Homewood North area.
