Route 64 East Pittsburgh -
Wilkinsburg bus route came into PAT's route structure from the former streetcar route 64
East Pittsburgh. While the route was undergoing the conversion from rail to bus, weekend
bus substitution was done and the buses kept the same route number as the streetcars to
help avoid confusing the public. Once the conversion was completed, the 64 designation was
retired and the route placed into the PAT corridor numbering system.
