Route 19B came into PAT's route
structure from the former Pittsburgh
Railways Company (PRCo) bus route number 12 with the same name. Prior to that the
route could trace its roots back to the 206 Shadeland & Brighton feeder route which
started sometime between October 1938 and December 1944. After 1944, PRCo created the 216
Perry feeder route and then merged the 206 and 216 into a combined route. PRCo then
renumbered all the bus routes in the 1950's and the 206/216 became the 12 Manchester -
Evergreen on December 6, 1953.
Garages assigned to the 19B:
- Manchester Garage - 03/01/64 - 03/30/68
- Ross Division - 03/31/68 - 02/07/77
Destination Signs:
Route ran with window cards. Very early PAT service in
1964 would utilize the old PRCo 12 Manchester - Evergreen reading if the bus assigned to
the route had the reading in it. There was an order of roll signs in 1977 that did include
this recently abandoned route but it was not used by that point. There may have been some
PAT made roll sign readings made up with this route but we can't confirm that point
currently.

The 19B ran only Monday through Friday with no weekend or holiday
service
Route received numerous routing adjustments in the Manchester area
due to the reconstruction of Ohio River Boulevard and the relocation of a portion of
California Avenue.
Schedules (Known PAT issued schedules issued are listed):
The 19B had 2 distinct styles of schedules.
The schedules from the Manchester Garage were folder PM-21 and were
combined with the 19A schedule on the reverse of the card type schedule.

There may have been a few PAT schedules issued prior to PM-21A as the
very early schedules tended not to have folder numbers and/or were reissued former
operator schedules.
Folder numbers did repeat after 22 schedules were issued. Letters I and
O were not used as an issue letter.
Route Disposition:
The 19B was discontinued on February 7, 1977 due to lack of patronage.
As this route traveled across already established routes, no replacement or merging of the
route took place.
